Honoring the past, serving the present, planning for the future

The Delaware Academy of Medicine is a private, nonprofit organization founded in 1930. Our mission is to enhance the well being of our community through medical education and the promotion of public health. Our educational initiatives span the spectrum from consumer health education to continuing medical education conferences & symposia .

Delaware Academy of Medicine's vast resources of medical education have provided an invaluable platform for the expansion and continuity of consumer health care awareness. In today's expanding sphere of available public health information through digital channels, directly consulting health care professionals has become obsolete. We work to provide an accessible, informative center of health education and public policy in health care. Community health is contingent upon patient education and their understanding how medical services are provided in a context of the changing public health policy.

We also provide a meeting place for the medical and dental professions and related organizations in our own board room, and in partnership with Christiana Care Health System in the John H. Ammon Medical Education Center (home to the Delaware Academy of Medicine). In addition, we provide financial support for the medical and dental education of students, as well as maintain the State of Delaware's medical and dental archives collections. Our organization is a platform to the synthesis of medical education resources and educational initiatives to improve health care.
