National Organizations: American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry This site was developed by AACAP. Although this is a clinical site, there are links to many helpful sites for consumers. In addition, publications and pamphlets are available on aspects of mental illness and how they affect children and teens. Families for Depression Awareness The organization was formed in 2001 for families and patients dealing with depression. Their mission is to reduce the stigma concerning mental illness, in particular depression. Resources explaining symptoms, where to go for medical help, and a list of support groups are available to consumers. In addition, there are links to many other helpful sites. Postpartum Support International The Center for Postpartum Health Website: http://www.postpartumhealth.com/ The information on this site examines mental illnesses that may occur after the birth of a baby. Research and legislative issues are available to the consumer. This site is unique in that it offers translations of the information into six languages.
