The first session, held on April 22, was on Pulmonary Medicine and the second session,

held April 29th, presented a view of the future of medicine.

 

The Delaware Academy of Medicine, in conjunction with Christiana Care Health System, is

offering this lecture series for adults of all ages, and high school students, to learn about

important trends in medicine and health.

There are no tests or grades. Participants who attend all six sessions will receive a Certificate
of Achievement.
No previous medical training is required.

Across Delaware, and across the nation, National Healthcare Decisions Day was observed
on April 16th. In Delaware there were events in all three counties in locations from hospitals
to community centers. In New Castle Country, Widener University School of Law hosted
a National Healthcare Decisions Day forum featuring speakers from Christiana Care
Health System, Delaware Hospice, and Widener University School of Law.

Professor Andrew Fichter, JD, PhD,Widener University  Brenda Pierce, General Legal Counsel, Christiana Care

School of Law, moderates the evening's speakers         Health System, reviews legal aspects of Advance Directives.

 

Other speakers not shown included Dr. John Goodill, Donna Casey, RN, and Reverend Tim Rodden -

all from ChristianaCare Health System, and Alan Henderson from Delaware Hospice, Inc.

 

Tim Gibbs, Executive Director of the Delaware Academy of Medicine, and Professor Thaddeus Pope,
of the Widener University School of Law, were statewide coordinators for the event, and developed a

website, www.delawaredecisions.org to be used as a tool for consumers and professionals.
